Meeting Consumer Demand This Holiday Season

Ecommerce, and the consumer convenience that comes with it, is a major trend in the modern retail industry. As the Retail Industry Leaders Association points out, “The desire to purchase goods and services anytime, anywhere is driving today’s dynamic retail environment.” Last week’s Amazon Prime Day reportedly brought in over $3.5 billion for third-party sellers, forecasting what could be a larger than ever holiday season for online sales.

According to CNBC, three in ten consumers expect to start their holiday shopping earlier than usual this year. It is essential that retailers have the proper supply chain processes in place to meet what are sure to be massive demands.

Target has committed to hiring more full-time and seasonal warehouse team members so their distribution centers can produce more inventory than ever before. Their Chief Human Resources Officer noted, “Knowing that the holiday season will be unlike any other, we’re building in even more flexibility to make sure Target remains a safe and convenient place to work and shop.”
